Chapter 7: The MIXER/EFFECTS Key
3. MASTER:
There is a set of stereo mix settings (volume and pan)
that is stored within each APG (all programs) file and
that applies globally to all sequences and programs. If
MASTER is selected in this field, this set of global data is
used in the mixer screen. In this mode, the stereo mixer
settings never change unless you change them, even if
the active sequence or program is changed. This option is
useful for people who always want the mix settings to
stay where they last put them. Note that these settings
must be saved to the APS file before power is removed, or
any changes mix changes will be lost.
• The Individual outs / effect mix field:
This field works the same way as the Stereo mix field above
except that the selection applies to the source of the Individual
Outputs/Effects Volume, Outputs/Effects Assignment, and Follows
Stereo Volume data instead of the stereo volume and pan.
• The Effects field:
This field works the same way as the Stereo mix field above
except that the selection applies to the source of the data for the
Effects screen instead of the Stereo Volume and Pan screen.
COMMENT: Whenever you change effect settings, any effect
signals that are still sounding (such as a long delay signal
that has not yet finished) will immediately be cut off. This
can cause a problem if SEQUENCE is selected while playing
a song in song mode because the effect settings will change at
each sequence boundary in the song, causing termination of
any decaying delay signals at the sequence transition. A
similar problem occurs if PROGRAM is controlling the effects
generator and you change programs while a sequence is
playing. Keep these issues in mind when creating effects
changes in mid-sequence or mid-song.
The contents of these 3 fields are saved in APS files.
The Automated mixer section:
• The Record live mix changes field:
This is a choice field and has two options:
1. YES:
If you’re recording on a drum track, all real-time changes
made to the volume or pan in the Stereo Mix screen (or to
the volume in the Individual Outputs/Effects Mixer
screen) are recorded, just as with an automated mixer.
When played back, the mixer settings will change exactly
as they did while recording, both audibly and visually on
the graphic screens. These movements are stored like
