Data for each note number:
128 Sounds (for all programs)
Note that sound assignments and sound modifying parameters are not
assigned to pad numbers but rather to one of 64 MIDI note numbers
(35–98). Separately, each of the 64 pad numbers (A01–D16) is assigned
to a specific MIDI note number. When a pad is played, the pad number is
translated into a note number (35–98) using the assignments in the MIDI
key, option 1 screen. The resulting note number is then used by the
program to determine which sound to play. This way, sounds can either
be played by the pads or by incoming MIDI Note On messages: both use
note numbers to specify which sound to play. Another graphic
explanation of this connection can be found at the beginning of the “MIDI
Functions” chapter.
Program data are edited primarily in the screens accessed by pressing
the SOUNDS key. These screens are described in this chapter. Editing
other program data is described in the following chapters:
• The pad to note number assignments:
Accessed by pressing the MIDI key and selecting option 1. This is
described in the “MIDI Functions” chapter of the manual.
• The stereo mix, individual output/echo send, and effects:
Accessed by pressing the DRUM MIX key. This is described in the
“DRUM MIX Key” chapter of the manual.
• The Note Variation Slider assignment and slider range limits:
Accessed by selecting “Note Variation Sldr” (option 3 on the
SOUNDS page). This is described in the “Basics” chapter of the
manual.
